Provincial Grand Charity Steward’s Report
to Provincial Grand Lodge

Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master

Over the last year, the Brethren of your Province have been as generous and unstinting as ever, having well supported the various Charities put before them by the Province and their Lodge. The individual contributor has been recognised and rewarded for his outstanding generosity by receiving a Patronage Certificate - and his Lodge by the presentation of Mauls, Plinths, and Sceptres for their combined effort.

Over the last couple of years Lodges have been urged to adopt a local Charity or good cause that they can assist with funds, then urged to gain Provincial support, which I’m delighted to report has led to many lodge contributions being doubled. In this, I am very pleased to report that many lodges have responded admirably to the benefit of our local community.

During this past year lodges have also been able to consolidate their own lodge benevolent funds which you will agree is not a bad thing. I have also written to every Lodge Charity Steward enclosing a ledger page referring to his Lodge, showing the start, and completion date for those who are currently supporting the Regular Payment Promise scheme, also those members whose term has ended. This has enabled our Charity Stewards to approach their brethren with added confidence and happily, the R.P.P. scheme is progressing nicely. I will be asking the Charity Stewards to keep a simple account sheet for his own use in the New Mark Charity Steward Newsletter.

RW PGM, you will be aware that seeking to gather all Charity Stewards together is most difficult. I have therefore instituted a Mark Charity Stewards Newsletter that will go out either by post or email to every Charity Steward in the Province several times a year. It will give advice and guidance and will aim to carry news and promotional items including photographs, letters to the editor etc., and new ways to make us all part with our cash. It will open-up the Charity Steward’s job, as the interesting, demanding, and important position that it really is! I have great hopes that I will interest those who take the job as a necessary Office, and enthuse all those who find the job no more than a bore. The aim for us all must be to add to the funds which will enable our lovely Mark Province to be so benevolent.

Brethren I thank you most sincerely for your past efforts and I am confident that you will continue to demonstrate this support in the months and years ahead.
