Provincial Grand Charity Steward’s Report
to Provincial Grand Lodge
Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master.
Although my tenure as Charity Steward has been fairly short, it has been very busy and a real eye-opener as to just how much time and effort is put in by the whole executive in running this Mark Province. I have been given the most interesting of problems to handle and expect much of the same in the New Year.
One might say it’s not surprising that our all round giving has slowed, especially
after the last two to three years of unprecedented generosity.
New and renewal subscribers of the regular payment promise scheme, that took over from the long standing Covenant which is so vital to the sustainment of the Provincial Benevolent fund, have also decreased.
In the hope of improving this situation I will be writing to every Lodge Charity Steward, supplying him with a list of those Payment promises that are still current and the date they end, enabling him to approach his Lodge Brethren with confidence when requesting new or further support for our Province.
Each Lodge is still being encouraged to adopt and support small local Charities from their own funds. The Lodge is then urged to approach our Provincial Benevolent fund for a supporting donation. We have in the past been able when funds were available to double the Lodge’s contribution, making a really worth while donation to a number of small and needy Lodge selected charities.
All those assisted in the past have been very worthy projects, each one making really good use of the combined Lodge and Benevolent fund contributions. Our efforts are always very happily accepted, and mean a great deal to these little Charities often working on a shoestring budget.

I would like to end on a personal note, by thanking you all for your individual generosity, also the caring attitude of our Mark Charity Stewards who do so much to help make this lovely Mark Province work.
